The mission of Alamo Area Partners for Animal Welfare (AAPAW) is to bring animal welfare organizations, veterinarians and the community together in partnership to improve the lives of animals in the San Antonio area. Learn more about AAPAW

The following groups are members of AAPAW and share the mission to improve the lives of animals in our area.

  • This group serves the Bulverde, North San Antonio, and Comal County areas
  • All-foster organization, caring for rescued animals
  • Please note: Animal Rescue Connections is not a shelter

Best Furry Friends Pet Rescue

  • Small, no-kill, foster based group that rescues unwanted and homeless dogs and cats
  • Provides veterinary care and finds forever homes
  • Serves the San Antonio area
  • Greyhound Rescue of San Antonio
  • Also a rescue for small livestock (sheep/goats) birds and working livestock, guardian dog breeds and all types of fowl
  • This group saves unwanted German Shepard dogs from “kill shelters” in San Antonio and surrounding areas in Texas
  • Charming Pet Rescue provides rescue, rehabilitation, and new loving homes for dogs that have been living on the street, been abused, abandoned and/or removed from high kill shelters
  • This rescue group finds permanent, loving homes for homeless Cocker Spaniels in central Texas
  • This shelter rehabilitates and re-homes homeless dogs and cats in the community
  • Serves the Converse area

Cute and Cuddlie AWS 

  • Serves central and south Texas
  • Dedicated to health, welfare, and happiness of Dachshunds
  • This rescue group works to save German Shepard and German Shepard Mixes from neglect, abuse, and premature death
  • Located in Dripping Springs, TX
  • This animal rescue helps save the lives of homeless and abandoned animals throughout the state of Texas

Golden Horn Foundation

  • This foundation helps dog rescuers directly with funds necessary to spay/neuter/transport and provide surgery/medication if needed

  • This group rescues and fosters abused, abandoned and neglected dogs until they find their forever home
  • Currently serves South Texas

Gotcha Dogs Rescue

  • This no- kill animal rescue is dedicated to saving the lives of homeless dogs and facilitating adoptions in the greater San Antonio area

  • The Helotes Humane Society is dedicated to placing unwanted animals in Helotes, Texas and the surrounding San Antonio community into loving homes

Hound Haven

  • This group rescues dogs and puppies from euthanasia at “kill shelters” and cares for them until they can be placed in loving homes or with other rescue groups

Just Add Love Dog Rescue

  • This rescue group takes in dogs from kill shelters, owner surrenders and found on streets
  • Please note that this is a home-based rescue

  • Saving Shelter Strays raises money for the care and wellbeing of dogs and cats in Bandera Shelters as well as those from other shelters in need of assistance

Tejas Rescued Pet Adoptions
